Shell Fishing Club 2007 Season News Archive
Welcome
As time rolls on the news becomes less relevant, below is the 2007 season news, just for reference.
[30/01/08] New Year Greetings
Well the New Year is under way, the nights are pulling out again and there's only 1 month left of this season to fish at Aldeby.
For new members a reminder that the club lakes close on February 28th until the 1st of May.
That means the AGM can't be far away... in fact its on Wednesday 19th March at the Uplands Community Centre, 7:30pm for an 8:00pm start.
As always it's open to all members, why not come along we'd love to see you.
You can see the agenda here, if you'd like to bring your suggestions to the meeting you can
send them in and we'll try to put them in for discussion.
[06/12/07] They Think It's All Over, ....... It Is Now!
The final results are in, they've been counted (twice) and the winner is...... ... I won't spoil it for you take a look at the table for yourself.
Well done to everyone who fished, there was a flurry of people over the last few matches which caused quite a few changes in the table.
I'm sure i speak for all of us in thanking Carl for his sterling work this match season, Well Done!
Finally don't forget to book your tickets for this years Christmas Party.
[29/10/07] No Change At The Top
There's no change at the top after the recent match results. It was a nice day out at Nature Haven but the fish didn't want to play.
Top Croft surprised everyone by not resembling the North Sea as it usually does, apparently it was dead calm, with a nice bag of 48lb from Alan to win the match. I'm told Shallowbrooke was "very wet, very windy & very hard" Well done to those that turned out to brave the conditions.
The venue for November 25th has been confirmed by Carl as Whetham, Deep Pond and it will be a points match.
Finally many of you will had a letter in the post regarding this years Christmas Party [amongst other things] we've put a copy on the Social page in case you haven't already seen it.
Tight lines everyone, SFC Admin
[08/10/07] YAMRU (Yet Another Massive Results Update)
Another big update with all the latest results supplied by Carl.
We're back up to date again, with a change of leader at the top of table.
[13/08/07] Massive Results Update
Well I must apologise for being a bit lax in getting the results onto the website, my fault entirely.
We're all up to date now with the 'score on the doors' from the BBQ match, Burgh Apton, Besthorpe & Top Croft.
[9/7/07] Latest results
We have the results from last weeks fishing at Weybread and also this weeks match at Barford.
I'm sure you all know where to look for the info by now. Carl tells me it was lovely day with only one shower, there were good bags of skimmers and some nice roach. Everyone said they had a nice day in a lovely location. I think we will be back next year, he'd like thank Paul Manthorpe for helping book such a nice venue.
Don't forget the Junior BBQ Match next week (15th July) and also the the Quiz Night on the 21st July which is being held at the Uplands Community Centre.
Not strictly SFC news, but my son fished at Aldeby this weekend in the Cub Scouts District Angling trophy,
his team from 2nd Gorleston Cubs (with a little bit of help from dad), managed a very respectable 2nd place.
[28/06/07] Besthorp results & BBQ Junior Match reminder
Well it's all change on the league table with the results from Besthorp, weights caught and points are 'in the usual place' and you can see the changes in the table 'here'.
"The weather kept fine for us and there were plenty of carp of the top. Paul worked hard to get a big bag of roach and rudd"
I've been asked to remind people about the Junior BBQ Match which is being held at our own water on 15th July.
Don't forget friends, family and neighbours are all welcome. Hope to see you there!
[18/06/07] STOP PRESS... Away Day Cancelled
Due to circumstances beyond our control it has been necessary to cancel the Away Day to Fennes Fisheries.
Carl has managed to get a match organised at Weybread Fisheries instead.
The results from the weekend's match at Marsh Farm are also in; "it was a lovely day but people had trouble getting though the smaller fish,
unfortunately
only three small carp showed but everybody had a good day". The positions and weights caught are available 'here'
[11/06/07] More match results...
The results from the Roach Cup held at Aldeby are in as well as last weeks points match at Top Croft. Carl tells me at the Roach Cup it was a lovely day, with pit 3 fishing better than pit 1. A few carp caught and also a couple of tench, some nice carp seen on top of pit 2.
As for the Top Croft match, the weather was good although the previous rain we'd had put the fish off. They were not staying on the feed as they should so the top results were well worked for.
The results from the points match have meant a few changes in the table.
[29/05/07] Latest match results & updates
I was a bit slow in posting the Berg Apton results, but they're up now along with the Tench Cup which was held this Bank holiday weekend. Carl tells me the fishing was hard and the weather worse!
I managed to get a spot of fishing in on the Saturday while the weather was better, caught a nice 9lb common and a 2 1/2lb tench.
As far as updates, I've managed to get the 2007 AGM notes on the site for those that wish to read them and the older news has been archived, just to keep the front page looking neater.
If anyone has any other thoughts or ideas don't forget to get in touch
.
[16/05/07] Match number 2
Pity about the weather at the weekend but there was still a good turn out for the second match of the season at Cider Farm.
Well done to everyone who fished, especially Chris with an impressive 44lb bag.
The results are 'here' if you want to take a look.
[10/05/07] 1st match results in
Our full season of fishing kicked off last weekend with the first match held at Aldeby.
Several members turned out but unfortunately the fishing was hard with only a few people managing to get some fish on the bank.
You can see the results 'here'
